Chris Pascoe graduated from Mouat in 2006. After high school he attended the University of the Fraser Valley and received his Bachelor of Science with a Biology Major and Pre-med concentration in 2010. Following graduation, Chris began a summer studentship in the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. Following this studentship, he entered the Masters of Experimental Medicine at UBC under the supervision of Dr. Peter Pare and Dr. Chun Seow. Following a year in the Masters program, Chris transferred directly to the PhD in Experimental Medicine program at UBC. He completed his thesis, titled "Mechanical and molecular contribution of airway smooth muscle to airway hyperresponsiveness in asthma”, in December of 2015 and received his doctorate degree in February 2016. Chris and Amanda were married at the Vancouver Rowing Club on July 18, 2015 and moved to Winnipeg in September of that year. They have since added a puppy to their family.
Chris’ favourite memory from high school was science 9 and 10 with Ms. Hall blowing up hydrogen balloons and pumpkins.
Currently, Chris is working as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) where he works under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Halayko. He has been researching the impact of pollution and cigarette smoke on asthma since September 2015.
